Openair, Optimisation for low Environmental Noise impact AIRcraft, FP7 project, Multi-channel amplifiers design for piezo-actuators

Active noise cancelation is one of the goal of OpenAir project. Requirements for amplifier were quite tough due to piezo-actuators used as speakers and connected with expectation of high energy efficiency. Finally 32 channels unit was assembled in one rig (Fig. ) and which met the required performance (size and weight as well). Initial requirements for amplifier Frequency Range 1500Hz to 3000Hz Voltage Range 360Vpp + 150VDC offset Current 0.5A Apparent Power 56VA Piezo-Capacity 200nF Input Voltage 5.0V It was possible due to proper class of amplifier selection, namely class D. To achieve smallest size and weight the design was based on integrated audio amplifier driver IRS2092 from International Rectifier company. In conjunction with two external MOSFET transistors and some passive components gives complete amplifier with protection. The only limitation of selected IC was maximum supply voltage possible to use. High voltage requirement was achieved with auto-transformer at the output of the amplifier.
